Rachel Smith

Singing Teacher

Rachel read Music at Exeter University and specialised in Music for her PGCE.  She is now the Assistant Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral School.  In 2007, as part of the Chorister Outreach Project which seeks to enhance the singing experiences of children in primary schools, Rachel founded the Devon County Junior Choir which now has 51 members. Rachel, herself a former member of the National Youth Choir and several Devon County music ensembles, is a well established performer in piano, choral and solo singing. 

She teaches piano peripatetically at Exeter School and privately, and was delighted to join the NCCGB team as a singing tutor at the 2009 summer course in Harrogate.  Rachel leads a busy musical life performing with several local musical ensembles as well as undertaking solo engagements.  She has been a member of Exeter Philharmonic Choir since 1996 and was a founding member of the female vocal quartet Viva.
