With a background in choral music, as a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and the Farnham Youth Choir, Suzzie is now a professional singer in demand as a soloist throughout the UK and as a consort singer wit groups including: Ex Cathedra, Tenebrae, the National Chamber Choir of Ireland and Howard Goodall’s Enchanted Voices.
Suzzie studied music at Birmingham University, shortly followed with a masters in vocal performance at Birmingham Conservatoire. She is now the director of Farnham Junior Boys’ Choir and Edgbaston High School chamber and senior choirs. She is also a voice coach for Farnham Youth Choir, Wyre Forest Young Voices and Wimbledon Choral Society. Suzzie teaches singing privately and at Bishop Walshe School in Bimringham and leads the adult singer’s course at the national Sing for Pleasure summer school.
Suzzie is passionate about working with young people’s voices to enjoy making music to the best of their capabilities. She has worked extensively for Ex Cathedra Education as a lead vocal tutor for their highly acclaimed Singing Playgrounds project and has been featured on the Teacher’s TV programme, Inspirations. Suzzie has been invited to lead vocal and choral workshops for a number of national organisations including: Glyndebourne Youth Opera, One Young World Summit, Singposium, NYCOS and the Dartington International Summer School. Between 2008 and 2010 she ran the chorister outreach programme for Rochester Cathedral and in 2012 she has worked alongside Lichfield Festival, planning and conducting their opening concert featuring local schools.
Her experiences as a conductor have seen her conducting in a number of venues including: The Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham’s Town Hall and Symphony Hall, Lichfield, Rochester and Birmingham Cathedrals and The British Embassy in Cyprus.
Her work as a voice coach, conductor and workshop leader has taken her internationally to: The United States, Estonia, Cyprus, Thailand and China.
