This has been a very busy summer for the choir, marking our 20th anniversary. 73 of our singers had the experience of a lifetime, visiting China and singing in Beijing and Shanghai in early August. They returned to join the summer course in Shrewsbury School, and on 10th August the whole choir, together with a group of alumni, gave an Anniversary Concert in Birmingham Town Hall. The concert programme included the première of a new work by Cecilia McDowall, Everyday Wonders: the Girl from Aleppo, specially commissioned for the occasion; the piece tells the story of Nujeen Mustafa, a child refugee from Syria, and many other choirs across the world are already planning to perform it in the coming year.
We are currently inviting applications for NCCGB choral conducting internships. Details and an application form are available on the People – Working with NCCGB page.
