Dear Parents/Carers,
Please find below some updates from NCCGB.
Course fees
The final (balance) payment for the Easter course is due on Friday 27th February.
I will be in touch to confirm the final balance.
Travel insurance
It sometimes happens that due to a choir member becoming ill either just before the start of the course, or during the course, or sometimes due to unforeseen family circumstances, they either cannot attend or have to leave early. Please note that we are not able to refund fees in these circumstances. However, we suggest that the family travel insurance policy may well cover such eventualities and if not, it may well be worth arranging specific insurance.
Easter course
The course will be held at Bromsgrove School, Worcester Road, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire | B61 7DU
Registration
Registration will be staggered by choir as follows:
Junior Choirs – Sunday 5th April
- Green Choir 1.00 – 1.45
- Blue Choir 2.00 – 3.00
- Yellow Choir 3.15 – 4.00
Senior and Tour Choirs – Tuesday 7th April 11.00 – 12.30
Please note that due to staffing and space constraints we cannot accept any children who arrive earlier than their allotted time. If you arrive early, we kindly ask you to wait outside until your choir is ready to register.
Details of where registration will take place will be in the course information that will be sent out in March.
Final day of the course
All choirs will finish at 12.30 on Saturday 11th April. From 11.30 – 12.30 there will be open rehearsals to give you the opportunity to see what your child has been doing during the week. We ask that you arrive before the rehearsal to collect luggage, so that we can finish at 12.30. Detailed information will be in the course information in March.
Detailed course information
I keep everyone updated about plans for our courses in my newsletters. These are also stored in the Members’ Area of our website for your reference.
For the Easter course I will send out detailed course information, including a kit list and a schedule, in March.
We store all choir information in the members’ area, including a handbook, which I hope should answer any questions you may have. However, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the course in between my newsletters.
NCCGB merchandise
It is possible to link through to our online shop through the page in the members’ section of our website. You can find this here…
Our suppliers will deal with you directly, and orders do not need to come via NCCGB.
Please note that the children are not required to have a NCCGB hoodie, this is just if they would like one. We will provide T-shirts.
Easter Cabaret
During every course, NCCGB hosts a cabaret evening where members can perform a piece of their choice, either vocal or instrumental, to the rest of the choir. This could be either a solo or group item.
We have a limited number of performance slots due to time constraints and may not be able to accommodate everyone if we are oversubscribed. However, we run a cabaret at every course, and therefore there are plenty of opportunities to participate.
If your child would like to perform, please submit their choice of item by Friday 27thFebruary by completing the form here…
Please note that, for the performer’s sake, all items must be well rehearsed. Instrumentalists can use sheet music if they need it, but singers must be able to perform without it. There will be the opportunity to rehearse ahead of the cabaret evening.
Phones down. Sing! Campaign
On 17th March, we will be launching our Phones down. Sing! campaign.
We have already received match funding and need to raise a minimum of £1000. The campaign will only be live from 17th March to 24th March.
Any funding that we receive will be used to support our junior choirs.
Funding is crucial for us to be able to continue to provide our services.
Please keep an eye out for updates on our social media and share far and wide.
Papagena Concert on 30th March at Malvern Priory
Some of our children with upper voices in Blue, Green and Senior Choirs will be singing with Papagena at a public concert at Malvern Priory on 30th March. This a really exciting opportunity as this will be the world premiere of a new piece composed by Liz Dilnot Johnson.
